Plus, the Ionos uses Giro's top-notch Roc Loc 4 system for a supremely comfortable and secure fit. And, this sweet lid is available in the colors of some of your favorite professional cycling teams.
How can the Ionos be so light and cool, and still meet the toughest safety standards? The secret is the use of a tough composite (the sections that look like white carbon in the photo). Giro calls this the In-mold Composite Sub Frame. It runs throughout the helmet liner and around the vents for incredible structural support, impact dispersion and resistance to penetration. It's also how the Ionos can have great big vents for amazing cooling and offer awesome protection, too.
Thanks to 21 large vents and Giro's Wind Tunnel technology, channels inside the Ionos that force air in and out, this lid is 15% cooler than Giro's previous best-vented lid. In fact, tests prove this is the first helmet to keep riders cooler than riding bareheaded, even on the toughest climbs and hottest days!
The Roc Loc 4 tension mechanism has three adjustments and a thin headband to enhance helmet stability without sacrificing ventilation; it’s ponytail compatible, too.
